Krista Patterson

Krista was born and raised in Tri-Cities, WA, where she is now starting her own family as a wife, and mother to one beautiful little girl. She started working in the fitness industry as a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Bodyflow instructor. Inspired by her mom, Cathie, who finished her RYT 200 in 2007, Krista continued her education in flexibility integration and started her own journey to become an RYT 200 through Yogafit. Last summer SUP Yoga finally made its way to her area, and Krista had found a new passion! Later that fall Krista flew down to Stoked Yogi’s SUP Yoga Teacher Training in San Diego, California and is now opening her own business back home. With her mom by her side, they are bringing SUP Yoga and Fitness to their community with Northwest Paddleboarding!

What does being a Glide Yogi mean to you?
It means being a part of a community who believes in living a healthy, active lifestyle. It means living a life of adventure and passion, but above it all it means supporting that “Made in the USA” label for a product I love.

Top three songs in your yoga playlist?

“Banana Pancakes” - Jack Johnson

“Hello, You Beautiful, Thing” - Jason Mraz

Favorite Pose(s) for SUP Yoga?

Headstand is by far my favorite. I feel vulnerable to nature, yet so much confidence in myself. It is scary and peaceful in the same moment. When I need to relax I normally head into pigeon pose, I am a little obsessed with hip openers.

Best advice for beginner SUP Yoga: “Take it slow, be in the moment and enjoy your
surroundings. There is no need to move fast during SUP Yoga, take it at your own pace and use your breath to help you balance.” It's best to take your first paddleboard trip on a safe and flat water lake. Here's some suggestions of places in Washington State to SUP.

Fave post-paddle eats? Let’s be honest.. I would just love a glass of whiskey. Mmm.. but I also love grilled chicken and veggie pitas!

Words to live by? “Trying and Failing is better than Failing to Try”
