AeroMatrix Core Construction

The Retro Core is built with AeroMatrix Core—our precision-engineered woven drop-stitch material that delivers impressive rigidity and paddling performance. Using a lighter woven core and 1300D fusion outer layer, this construction strikes the perfect balance between strength, stability, and packability. It may not carry the cross-woven structure of the Elite series, but it’s no slouch—AeroMatrix Core brings dependable Glide quality to every paddle.

Dual-Layer Fusion Rails

The Retro Core features Glide’s dual-layer rail system—the same tough outer seam used on our performance boards. With two fused layers, these rails provide the strength and durability needed for real-world paddling. While not as reinforced as our triple-layer ThermoFuse rails, they’re built to last and ready for everyday adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the Retro Core and the Retro 3.0 Elite?

The Retro Core uses a woven drop-stitch core and dual-layer rails, offering great stiffness and stability at a more affordable price. The Elite version steps it up with a cross-woven drop-stitch core, triple-layer ThermoFuse rails, a full-length deck pad, and upgraded accessories like a wheeled backpack and kayak seat. The Core gives you the same shape and Glide reliability—just with a more streamlined build.

Is the Retro Core stable enough for beginners?

Absolutely. The Retro Core is one of the most beginner-friendly paddleboards out there. Its wide deck, square tail, and low-profile design make it super stable, even for first-time paddlers.

Can I use the Retro Core for yoga or light fitness?

Yep! While the deck pad isn’t full-length like the Elite version, it still provides plenty of room and comfort for basic stretching, yoga poses, or bodyweight workouts on calm water.

Does the Retro Core convert to a kayak?

It doesn’t come with a seat or kayak blade, but it’s fully compatible with our AirThrone seat and kayak blade if you want to add them later. It’s an easy upgrade whenever you’re ready.

Love the inflatable SUP

I’ve only used it twice so far, but the SUP is great! The instruction videos covered everything. The only thing I’m hoping gets better is the feel of the backpack on my back. It feels pretty awkward and not something I could carry very far. Could be I need to roll up the SUP better or maybe I’m just weak….still a great purchase! Our inaugural use it held me (adult woman) and my 16 y.o. Autistic son who was sitting! Very stable!!

Loving it as my first board

I bought this when it was the Glide Retro CORE and have been using it for about one and a half months now. It was the one I landed on after doing a bunch of research on what would be the best "budget" board to get. I use it on calm inland lakes, wetlands, and streams.

The overall build quality seems great and the accessories all work fine. I have no real complaints about any of it and have really enjoyed using it. I've been manually inflating it to try and avoid annoying other people with an electric pump, and so far the manual pump has been working fine. I also was able to easily shop for a shallower fin since it uses a standard US fin box.

There are some very small things that could maybe be improved. The first is that the cut edges on the paddle (like where the holes are or where each paddle section ends) can give you really tiny blisters. This hasn't been a huge problem and has only happened right when I got it. The second is that I would like to see a "fin option" when purchasing. It'd be cool if Glide offered different fins to pair with the bundle. In my case, I would've liked to select a shallow fin.

Overall I'm really happy with everything, especially for the price, and the only thing that remains to be seen is the long-term durability.

Love this paddleboard

Bought this for my hubby. It's great quality and has all the features we wanted, cargo bungees front and rear, lots of d rings and weight capacity for our 7 yr old to ride with him. Love it.

When is time to replace mine, we will definitely get another one.

Great I-SUP

Let me preface with this is my first board & I am a beginner. However, with this set up I had no problems getting out there and standing for my first time. The board felt stable and love the size. I'm excited to use the board this summer!
